Speedbumps and Potholes

Nick Baines
£8.99
ISBN: 9780715208069

Description

‘On a blustery cold day, as I write this, Nick Baines has worked his ecclesiastical magic and made me feel much sunnier. And that’s a God-given gift’. Sarah Kennedy, BBC Radio2 presenter

‘Thought-provoking with zest, careful reflection and great fun … This is spirituality for busy people who enjoy the richness of God’s creation.’ The Rev. Dr Richard A. Burridge, Dean of King’s College, London

'Short and sharp, often wry, always to the point.' Christian Marketplace

These 42 entertaining, short reflections are not meant to offer the final word on the meaning of God, life, the universe and everything. Instead, they come from observation and ordinary, everyday experience. They offer the reader glimpses of a new perspective on daily life.

Author Information

Nick Baines is Bishop of Croydon, the only bishop we know who has been arrested for busking in the Paris Metro (albeit when he was 19 or 20). He is ‘The spy who came into the fold’ or ‘the bishop who came in from the cold’, having worked as a professional Russian (and German and French) linguist at the Government Communications HQ in Cheltenham in the early 1980s. He is a guitarist and singer, and grew up playing classical and jazz (trumpet). Nick also undertakes many broadcasting assignments and conducts an inter-faith dialogue in Central Asia (Kazakhstan) and south-east Europe.
