But I Say to You

Exploring the Gospel of Matthew

Leith Fisher
£12.99
ISBN: 9780715208731

Description

‘The reason I use parables in talking to them is that they look, but do not see, and they listen, but do not hear or understand.’ Matthew 13:13

‘Fisher opens up dimensions of this text in a way no popular commentary can match. Ever down to earth, Leith consistently relates the gospel to the everyday and the ordinary, with all its ambiguities.’ From the Introduction by John Barclay

Matthew reveals to us Jesus as teacher and the content of his teaching – the medium and the message. Matthew shows us the way of humble, faithful discipleship in the midst of our bruising and confusing world.

Leith Fisher guides us through Matthew’s Gospel to make it instantly relevant and beautiful, offering material and suggested activities for both personal and group reading. It can be read either at a sitting or in sections over a period of a month or a year.

Its forty chapters also make it ideally suited for the days of Lent.

Author Information

Leith Fisher was a hugely popular minister and member of the Iona Community. He had previously published two books with Saint Andrew Press – Will You Follow Me? and The Widening Road.

His sudden death in March 2009 came as huge shock to many in the Church of Scotland and beyond and over 1000 people attended his funeral at Wellington Church in Glasgow. His family have asked Saint Andrew Press to continue with the publication of But I Say to You as previously planned.
